Can You Stay Positive in a Negative World?
What did you see on the news last night?
I’ll tell you what I saw–out of a 30 minute newscast, and not counting commercials, I saw 11 stories. Out of the 11 stories 9 of them were about something negative. Is this unusual? Sadly, no, it’s not.
We live in what I call a “toxic” environment. It’s all around us and makes it increasingly challenging to see the positive and bright side, doesn’t it? Negativity is all around us. We see it on television and listen to it in song. Of course, it’s not ALL negative but there is so much of it out there that it is critical that you don’t get swept up in it.
I heard a very interesting statement not too long ago that really made me think and it has stuck with me for sometime now… this person made a statement saying “you can measure a person’s height, you can measure how high a person can jump, you can even measure how fast they run, but you can not measure a person’s heart. What that person meant and what I got from that statement is that you never know what’s in a person’s heart and just how hard someone will work for something.
