Statistics on Success?
By Doug Firebaugh

You can't do it. Look at the facts.
You aren't smart enough. Look at the facts.
You aren't talented enough. Look at reality.
You cannot achieve it. The numbers are against you.
You will never win. The odds are against you.
You should consider the history. It cannot be done.
You will never learn. Look at the past.
You can't do it. Look at the facts.…

The only statistics that can stop you in any endeavor are the statistics that you accept as true. Statistics never measure:

Heart.
Desire.
Belief.
Determination.
Decision.
Focus.
Resolve.

All statistics do is give a general overview of what someone thinks is happening… when it comes to what you can do… the only thing that matters is what is happening inside of you.

STATS… you know what that stands for?

Stopping The Ascent Towards Success.

The only statistic that matters as far as success is concerned…is the Will to Win. That is the Final Statistic…that will always overshadow all other statistics… I hope and pray you caught that!

Blessings,

Breakfast of Failures
By Sharif Khan

“If you want to increase your success rate, double your failure rate.” -- Thomas Watson, Sr. Founder of IBM

Before the Breakfast of Champions – there was the Breakfast of Failures:

* C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia) had over 800 rejections before he sold even one piece of writing.

* Oprah Winfrey was not deterred when she got fired from her television reporter’s job being told, “You’re not fit for TV.”

* Og Mandino (The Greatest Salesman in the World) had lost his family to drink and became a homeless person before becoming an inspirational bestselling author selling over 30 million books.

* Marie Curie, recipient of two Nobel Prizes once said, “I tried out various experiments…and the results were sometimes unexpected. At times I would be encouraged by a little unhoped-for success, at others I would be in the deepest despair because of accidents and failures resulting from my inexperience…I was taught that the way of progress is neither swift nor easy.”

* Bill Gates and Michael Dell were college drop-outs.

* Babe Ruth had more strike-outs then any other baseball player of his time. He also had the most home runs.

* Ann Bancroft, the first woman to travel across the ice to the North Pole, reminisced later about not reaching a goal to cover 2,300 miles across Antarctica (bad weather forced them to be airlifted off) on an expedition with her sister: “Once again this [expedition] is another successful failure.”

* After auditioning for his band, musician Eddie Bond told a young Elvis Presley to “Stick to driving a truck, because you’ll never make it as a singer.”

* Abe Lincoln lost his job and his sweetheart, failed miserably in business, was defeated for state legislature, had a nervous breakdown, was defeated for nomination for congress, lost the renomination, was defeated for US Senate, defeated for nomination of Vice President, and again defeated for US Senate, before being elected as the sixteenth President of the United States.

Forget about living a ‘comfortable’ life. I’m not interested in the items you’ve crossed off your to-do list today. I want to know: have you failed – I mean really FAILED lately?

Don't Just Say It - Do It!
by Dr Tony Alessandra

Words, while important, are cheap. Credibility is gained by backing up those words with action. Especially if you're in a leadership position, be very aware that you set the style, both in appearance and integrity. Cultivate a do-as-I-do, not a do-as-I-say, philosophy.

You can show your sincerity by practicing what you preach on a daily basis. One manager, for instance, demanded his subordinates be pillars of strength when it came to refusing gifts from clients who might then expect special treatment.

A day of reckoning came when the manager, known for his insatiable sweet tooth, received a gift of two chocolate pies from a local pastry shop. It's said there was a tear in his eye--and probably a pang in his stomach--as he had the pies returned with a gracious note. Everyone in the office had been watching--and he knew it--to see if he would be true to his own credo.

The Ultimate Achievement Challenge
By Ruben Gonzalez

The following challenge is for the daring few who are serious about making their goals, dreams, and desires come true. Those afraid to dare might as well stop reading right here. This challenge will weary the lazy because it calls for immediate action. It will bore the sophisticated, and amuse the skeptics.

I don't expect it to be popular because it calls for courage, guts and perseverance. But for a few of you, for the priceless few who decide to go for it, it will result in a renewal of purpose and an exciting, adventurous, exhilarating life.

What I will ask you to do will take you less than 30 minutes a day. Thirty minutes that over a period of time will change the way you think, will create a burning desire for your goals, and will cause you to believe without a shadow of a doubt that you are destined to make your goal a reality.

Once you reach that point, you will be mentally ready to take the journey to your dreams. You will be so mentally strong that you will be absolutely unstoppable. None of the inevitable struggles that you will face will stop you. You will know that you truly are bigger than any circumstances and you will do whatever it takes to make your goals happen.

So here goes…

I challenge you, I dare you, I double-dog dare you to do the following five things seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, for the rest of your life.

Those of you that do will undoubtedly accomplish great things in your lifetimes. Those that don't… well, you know.

Write your goals down!

Magic happens when you put your goals down on paper. Your subconscious mind starts trying to figure out ways to make your goals become a reality.

In 1960, Harvard Business School did a study of their graduates 20 years after they had graduated. They found the top 3% moneymakers made as much money as the other 97% put together. The only difference between the two groups was the top 3% had always written and regularly read their goals. As a result, everything they did on a day-to-day basis was focused on reaching their goals.

When Tiger Woods was a young boy, he wrote down on a 3x5 card that he intended to break all of Jack Nicklaus' ecords. Tiger read his card daily and the rest is history. Even Jack Nicklaus agrees that Woods will do it if he stays on he track he's on.

The most effective way to write your goals down is to take a 3x5 card and on one side write (in the present tense):

"I intend to ………. by (date)."

Ex.) For years my card said… "It is February 2002 and I am in the Salt Lake Olympics. I am now a three-time Olympian"

On the other side of your card write what you are doing on a daily basis to make it happen.

"I intend to accomplish this because…"

Then write at least three things you are doing daily to get you closer to your goal. By reading the back of your card very day you will increase your belief. You see, your mind will say to itself, "I'm bound to make it, look at how hard I'm working!"

Ex.) The back of my card said…. "I'm a three-time Olympian because: 1) I work out every day, 2) I eat right, and 3) I onstantly read good books, listen to motivational tapes, and associate with winners.

Keep your card on your bedside table. Read your card first thing in the morning EVERY DAY to stay focused on the bjective. Then read your card EVERY NIGHT before turning out the lights so your subconscious can work all night on ays to make it happen.

Tip- Read your card in front of a mirror while looking right at your eyes. Read it with passion, with energy. Whenever ou say the word "I", touch your chest with your index finger. Make it like a pep talk. I guarantee that by doing it that way, you will develop tremendous desire, passion, and mental strength.

Vividly imagine what it will feel like when you reach your goal

Several times a day close your eyes and for a couple of minutes vividly imagine what it's going to feel like when you achieve your goal. This does not have to take up any time. You can do it while you shower. While you're in the elevator. On the way to work. Make it a "Victory Shower" or a "Victory Commute!" Really get into it.

Feel it as if it were really happening. Involve as many of your senses as possible. What will it feel like? What will it taste like? What will it sound like? What will it look like? What will it taste like? Get excited! Your subconscious does not know the difference between vividly imagining something and it really happening. By doing this, you become passionate about your desire, your belief becomes unshakeable and you become unstoppable.

Tip- Get pictures of your goal and put them where you can see them all the time. The walls of my office have always been covered with Olympic flags, posters, mementos, etc. I'm constantly bombarding my brain with where I want to go.

Rubber band your negative self talk away.

This strategy sounds simplistic but if you will do it for 30 days, you will be surprised at how powerful it is. Wear a rubber band around your wrist. Every time you catch yourself saying something negative snap your wrist hard and replace the negative with a positive.

Ex.) Suppose I did something dumb and called myself "Stupid". I'd snap the rubber band and say, "No, I'm a winner!".

Or suppose I said, "I'll try to do it." I'd snap the rubber band and say, "No, I'm going to do it!"

What this does is to make you aware of all the negative programming we typically do, nip it in the bud, and replace it with a positive. Becoming aware of the problem is the first step in correcting it. You will be amazed how much more positive your outlook will become in just 30 days. Soon you will notice how most people operate from a negative frame of mind and how successful people don't.

Here are some examples of negative and positive phrases:

Negative Statements: I'm a loser, I'm failing, I'm having a problem, I can't do it, I should have…(some action), I'll try, I can't

Positive Statements: I'm a winner, I'm getting an education, I'm having a challenge, I'll figure it out if I don't quit, Next time I will… (some action), I will do it, I can do it

Read 15 minutes every day from a positive book

The books you read and the people you associate with will determine where you are in five years. Consistently reading good books will boost your self-belief and will help you to start thinking bigger.

This does not have to take much time. I keep a book on my bedside table, one in each bathroom, one in my briefcase (you never know when you'll have a few spare minutes), and one in the car (for red lights and traffic jams). I've read some of my books several times. I've read "The Magic of Thinking Big" about 8 times. Every time I read it I get something different from it because every time I'm older and ready for new knowledge.

Believe it or not, if all you do is read one book a month, you'll be reading more than 95% of Americans.

If you have teenagers, you might want to reward them whenever they read and write a book report on positive books. Get them thinking success at an early age.

Constantly ask yourself the winner's question

What's the best thing can I do in the next 15 minutes to get me closer to my goal?

Then do it! Do it right away. Don't kid yourself, success requires massive action. The first four steps will make you mentally strong so you can consistently and persistently do the fifth step. It's the action that will make your dreams come true.

If you will get in the habit of doing the following things every day, you will be surprised at how you begin to hit and exceed your goals.

It will take you less than 30 minutes a day to do all these things.

What do you have to lose?

Go Ahead, Make *Your* Day!
By Rebecca Fine

If you've read The Science of Getting Rich and have begun to apply the principles explained there, it's a pretty good bet that you know to begin by getting crystal clear on whatever it is you desire to be, do, or have.

So it's likely you've done that to some degree, perhaps by creating what Mr. Wattles calls your "clear mental image" of a
particular thing -- your "dream house," ideal job, income, car, or the like. Or maybe an experience -- a great relationship or a vacation or adventure.

But have you ever thought of creating a clear mental image of how you'd like your day -- TODAY -- to be?

when I noticed that the 2004 film, "What the Bleep Do We Know?" was about to be released on DVD and decided to offer it as the March "Prompt Readers" prize, I remembered that last spring when I first saw that movie all about the science of how our consciousness creates our reality I'd been really taken with a very tiny bit in the film -- not more than about a minute.

I'd made a mental note to myself to remember that bit and then I promptly forgot all about it! (Note to self: WRITE DOWN ideas. They're as slippery as eels!*)

So I was happy and grateful to remember it at last. I popped the DVD in the player and searched through the scenes until I found Dr. Joe Dispenza saying this:

"I wake up in the morning and I consciously create my day the way I want it to happen.

"Now sometimes, because my mind is examining all the things that I need to get done, it takes me a little while to settle down and get to the point of where I'm actually, intentionally creating my day.

"But here's the thing: When I create my day and out of nowhere little things happen that are so unexplainable, I know that they are the process, or the result, of my creation.

"And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net in my brain that I accept that that's possible. It gives me the power and the incentive to do it the NEXT day."

Now I'm forever telling people that with the Science of Getting Rich, your LIFE is your laboratory, the only place you can prove its truth. So it took me about half a second to decide, OK, I'm going to do that, too!

I'm going to experiment with this idea of creating my day and see what happens. I'm going to create a very specific "clear mental image" each morning of how I want my day to go -- what I want to experience, how I want to FEEL, what I want to accomplish, and then just let the day unfold from that.

Now when I began I hadn't really thought of it as an experiment that I'd report back to you about. I just chose to DO it. And my friend, the results have been so fantastic that ...

There's no way I'm going to STOP pre-creating each and every day!

For a long time now I've been starting each morning with a quiet time of meditation, journaling, a bit of reading, and planning the day. But now instead of just PLANNING the events, I'm actively CREATING the whole EXPERIENCE -- and I do it exactly the way SOGR shows us how to create or attract ANYTHING we desire.

Instead of just telling you, let me show you some examples of typical "create my day" journal entries:

* Today I intend to feel WONDERFUL all day long.

* Today I intend to make big headway on [a project] -- easily, calmly, smoothly. It goes really well!

* Today I intend to be focused on whatever I'm engaged in and highly productive.

* Today I intend to pour out love.

* Today I intend to enjoy EXCELLENT sales in my businesses.

* Today I intend to do my workout easily, enjoyably, and effectively.

* Today I intend to help [a friend] complete her radio project with fun and enjoyment.

* Today I intend to smile at everyone I see.

* Today I intend to experience joy, peace and serenity all day long!

* Today I intend to laugh a LOT.

* Today I intend to be absolutely brilliant in all my undertakings.

* Today I intend to cook a delicious, healthy dinner with that new chicken recipe and enjoy it with friends.

* Today I intend to enjoy writing and be "in the flow" with ideas, words, inspiration.

* Today I intend to have FUN checking off the items on my "to do" list!

* Today everything required comes to me easily, effortlessly, "flowingly" -- words, ideas, people, things, money, opportunities, and more.

* Today I intend to release the old and no longer needed with love and blessings.

* Today I welcome the new with joy and gratitude!

(No, that's not all from just ONE day!) ;-)

Now you may notice that some of those items above are in the form of affirmations. Actually they all are, but some are written in the present tense while others say "I intend to." As Mr. Wattles reminds us, there's no power in "repeating mere strings of words." It's the FEELING those words stir up in us that holds the power.

It's the emotion and feeling behind the words and images that impress our "clear mental images" on the Formless and start the Creative Process in motion.

Since it's the feeling that's most important in impressing, attracting, and creating, I focus on that. And since every material thing and every experience we desire (everything we want to be, do, or have) is only a MEANS to achieve a particular feeling anyway, I figure I might as well shoot right for that and include the feeling in every statement.

So that's why my blueprint for the day isn't just another of those big checklists of Things To Get Done that can actually bring on feelings of overwhelm and drudgery.

No, what it's really all about is how I intend to FEEL today. All day.

And you know what, my friend?

IT WORKS!

By the time I'm done writing down my intentions for the day, I FEEL GREAT. I've got a big grin on my face and feel energetic and ready to get started! Then I take it to the next level by reading my intentions aloud, declaring them to myself and the Universe.

And so far, after a few weeks of consciously, intentionally creating my day in advance I'm feeling wonderful, healthier, happier, more productive -- and, yes, more money, amazing opportunities, and connections with people are showing up, too.

I'm getting so much more done each day and it feels almost effortless. Plus there's a constant feeling of wonder at just how simple and effective this all is. I'm truly amazed.

If that sounds good to you, I invite you to join me in this exciting experiment. In fact, whatever time of day it is where you are, I invite you to BEGIN NOW.

(Remember what Mr. Wattles says: "There is never any time but now!") ;-)

Why just let the day happen TO you when you can CREATE the kind of day you desire?

Sales Tip -- Your "Benefit Statement"
By Bob Burg

Last time, I touched briefly on the "Benefit Statement." This is a brief statement (typically, between 5-7 seconds) consisting of the benefit(s) your prospect or their company would derive from doing business with you.

The difference between features and benefits is profound. Namely that people don't buy features (what something is); they buy benefits (what it can do for them). So craft your "Benefit Statement" in such a way that the person with whom you're speaking immediately grasps the benefits of what your product or service will do for them. My prospecting mentor, Rick Hill, calls it "The Raised Eyebrow Test." Is your Benefit Statement going to cause them to raise their eyebrows in fascination and want to know more? Or, as Rick asks, "Will they simply yawn?" :-)

So, instead of saying, "I'm a stockbroker", "I'm in life insurance", or "I'm a chiropractor" (all simply features), let's look at some examples of "Benefit Statements":

Stockbroker: I help people create and manage wealth.

Life Insurance: I help people protect their families and plan for a prosperous financial future.

Network Marketer (of health products): I help people create wealth and health.

Realtor: I help people successfully sell their home, and own the home of their dreams.

Long-Term Care Insurance: We help people protect their hard-earned assets from one of life's greatest financial catastrophes.

Chiropractor: I help people heal themselves naturally, without medication.

Litigating Attorney: Our firm helps people resolve disputes in various forms and avoid costly consequences.

Rick Hills say that a good litmus test of your "Benefit Statement's" effectiveness is when your prospect responds by asking, "Oh, how do you do that?"

Remember, every single year millions of 1/4 inch drill bits are sold, and yet nobody buying any one of them actually wants a 1/4 inch drill bit. So why do they buy them then? Because they want a 1/4 inch HOLE. Remember, people buy benefits, not features.

Comfort Zone or Danger Zone?
By Paul Huff

Our comfort zone is the living, working and social environments that we have grown accustom to. It determines the type of people we associate with, the life style we accept or reject, our goals and aspirations, our performance level and the very quality of life we have. It’s called our “comfort zone” because it’s where we experience minimal discomfort. It’s a place where we feel a sense of security and certainty. It’s a nice, pleasant, cozy little hideaway we’ve made for ourselves. It’s also a dangerous place to be.

Individuals and organizations are generally found in one of the following three comfort zone categories:

1. They are in their comfort zone and want to stay there. Individuals and organizations that find themselves in this category are basically in No-Man’s Land. They have accepted the status quo as their destiny; therefore, no progress can be made.

2. They were suddenly thrust from our comfort zone and want back in. Organizational change has forced many people out of their comfort zone. They want to know when the changes will stop so they can get back to what is comfortable, what is safe. But there is no safety there. In fact, the bigger danger lies there.

3. They are dissatisfied with current conditions and want to move to another comfort zone. Dissatisfaction is a prerequisite to improvement. In order to grow and change, we must first be unhappy with our current state. To change our life style, establish a business, or succeed at a challenging project, we must realize that all meaningful and lasting changes come as a result of discomfort.

Over the course of our lives, we have learned to associate “comfortable” with good and “discomfort” with bad. Yet, all human progress is born out of discomfort. Every invention, from the telephone to the trash compactor, has been fueled by our dissatisfaction with existing alternatives. Organizations go from good to great because somebody decides that “good” is not good enough.

Likewise, individuals can only improve the quality of their relationships, health, finances and career when they are dissatisfied with their current situation. That’s why our comfort zone is really our danger zone. Progress cannot be made and results cannot be improved upon from a position of comfort. Things get better when we become uncomfortable.

We must be willing to give up the life we have in order to create a better one. We must be willing to give up the certainty of what is in order to create the possibility of what might be. Certainly, when we dare to tread outside our comfort zone, we may lose temporary footing. But not to dare means losing the person we could become, the life we could create, the expanded role we could play in the company, in the community and in the world.

The Power of One-on-One
By Denis Waitley

The secret to being a good role model and mentor is in finding out want others want and helping them succeed. The secret to being a good and wise communicator is the patient listening for those desires in others, and also in learning from the experiences of others by questioning and listening thoroughly, so that we may learn from their successes and failures.

Frank Sinatra learned his superb breath control in singing from his first band leader, Tommy Dorsey. In large part, the person Helen Keller became was because of Anne Sullivan. Plato learned from Socrates. Jesse Owens credits his winning of the long jump in the 1936 Olympics to a tip given to him by his top German competitor, Luz Long. In the middle of the event, after Owens had already fouled twice on takeoff, Long gave Owens a helpful hint on how to correct his takeoff point. The result was a record breaking leap of over 26 feet which stood for more than twenty years.

Artists have always learned more from observing other artists than from going to classes or observing nature. In a sense, you and I are master artists who have the opportunity to breathe new colors, shading and perspective into the lives of other artists who are struggling with their oils, brushes and canvases.

Think back to the people who have had the most influence on you. You will likely find that they have been people who really cared about you -- your parents, a great teacher, a coach, business associate, a good friend -- someone who was interested in you. The only people you will influence to any great degree will be the people you care about. When you are with people you care for, their interests -- rather than your own -- will be uppermost in your mind.

Our success in getting along with others and communicating effectively with them depends solely upon our ability to recognize their desires and needs, and help them fill those desires and needs with positive actions.

In the communication process, knowledge is not always wisdom; sensitivity is not always accuracy and sympathy is not always understanding. All customer service and the ability to gain trust and repeat business is based on empathy. Empathy is "feeling with" and never assuming anything until you have "walked a mile in the other person's moccasins." Since it is impossible to know the road another has walked, the best alternative is to ask questions with interest and respect, and listen for the hidden agendas and desires.
In this way, you can be a Renoir to the next Monet!
